Snap...

Once I'd watched Martin 'Wolfie' Adams secure his place in the dart's final I decided the time was right to throw caution to the wind myself and switch this blog to the new Blogger. Having heard horror stories about blogs disappearing into deep, dark holes during the migration, I spent a few minutes backing up my entries into text files. In retrospect that was a waste of time because here I am and everything came with me. Yippee. Not too sure what the point is, really, aside from Blogger telling me that they were ready for me to get on with it. And, well, I aim to please.

For one week only I'm also going to try out these new Snap preview boxes that are cropping up everywhere. I've seen them on a few blogs and I can't decide whether I like them or they're the most annoying thing to hit the planet since, erm, oh, I dunno, Jackiey Goodie. Or Hitler. Let me know what you think. Personally, I think they're probably little more than a passing fad. A bit like the internet. Or an Apple iPhone. Anyway now, when I add a link to the wonderful world of Basil Dray, for instance, and you hover your mouse over said link, you get a preview of his site to help you decide whether to pay him a visit. This hasn't just been invented with the promotion of Basil Dray in mind, of course, but works with any hyperlink.

I've seen mention of the Snap widget/program around but setting it up on your website is a novel idea. I imagined it was uniquely a device for one's browser.

No, I can't quite see the point of New Blogger Beta/Not-Beta/Whatever either.

I thought I wouldn't like these Snap things Dave, but that turned out to be a snap decision, because seeing them working on your site, I think they're pretty impressive. But I'm easily excited by such things. How do you go about setting them up?

Hey DC. You just need to register with Snap.com and they give you the code to paste into your blog template. Just stick it before the end of the head info, but all that's explained on the site. I like them but I think I'll have had enough after a few days. I'll see how I feel.

A damn good example you've got there.
