To the launch of Steven Hall's novel The Raw Shark Texts, an exclusive pre-launch launch taking place in this northern outpost. Nice and exciting to see a Hull-based writer on the verge of something, well, enormous. The book's all about a conceptual shark that's taken a liking to the memory of a bloke called Eric Sanderson. It's an excellent read, with typesetting from the school of Douglas Coupland. Go and buy yourself a copy. One caveat for me, however, is that as Steven has made Hull his home, I think he should have ditched the shark in favour of a conceptual cod. Maybe that can be addressed come the film?

I've not yet read it, but it's an amazing story. It's nice to see one of the good guys win.
