I was granted a ten minute interview with Simon Singh at the end of last week. Some might argue that ten minutes is not quite enough when you need to quiz a man about the creation of the universe. But then, if Georges Lemaître, a Catholic priest from Belgium, who proposed the idea of a universe born at a single instant in the past, is right, and now pretty much everyone agrees that he is, then maybe you don't need more than a single instant for the interview. Anyway, ten minutes revealed that Simon's no Johnny Ball. And can anyone get their head wrapped around the fact that, just prior to the big bang, at which point the universe started expanding outwards (and continues to do so), there was a day without a yesterday? Today, we may or may not be heading to the seaside. Looking further ahead, if there is a tomorrow, I'm struggling to work out how I'll fit in three trips to the theatre at the end of next week to see Julius Caesar, A Cloud in Trousers and Dracula between having a life and writing my own stuff. Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh.
