We headed to the Pocklington Arts Centre last night to enjoy an evening of comedy. What we got was something altogether more surreal. We were invited to work at the centre as volunteers, perhaps selling ice cream during intervals. The comedy wasn't up to a great deal, save for the 'headliner' - a burly Scot called Dougie Dunlop. We were invited back to the venue on Monday night on the strength that the evening had been a bit of a letdown, although I fear that they might have measured us up mentally for our usherette's clothing and we'll be dishing up refreshments.
