All I have to do is get through the next few hours and I can put my feet up for a few days and grow accustomed to being 39. But there are quite a lot of hours ahead. 8 here, 2 down the theatre and then my lovely writing workshops on the largest council estate in Europe (coming together nicely, thanks for asking). So, here goes...
Great piece of football punditry from Terry Venables last night, winning the Ron Atkinson award for stupidity. Asked to sum up Rosenborg's poor showing against Arsenal midway through the 5-1 Gunners victory, simpleton Terry said: "oh, they're having an absolute holocaust". It's wise words like this that pave the way for Big Ron to make his television return, thus making a mockery of us all, but notably any efforts to keep racism out of football. Live TV might be a high-pressure environment where things get said in the heat of the moment, but there's no excuse for complete and utter racist twats being handed the opportunity to perform in front of an audience of millions.
