Had two meat-eaters round for a Thai-themed Quorn extravaganza. It went down very well. Speaking as a meat-eater myself, I've grown to quite enjoy this fungal foodstuff. The experience differs not one jot from an evening of, say, chicken chomping. And knowing that your full stomach hasn't involved the slaughter of animals makes you feel curiously happy. I guess vegetarians feel like that all the time. Lunch today, however, involved chicken, beef and a good old-fashioned steak and ale pie (three separate dishes eaten by three different people, I hasten to add, not just a bucket containing meat slop that we all dibbed into). At least for a couple of hours last night a few animals must have slept sounder and had real hope for the future. Yet here we are, back to square one.
