Samuel L Jackson was on Radio 1 this merry morn, talking about his upcoming cameo appearance in Ricky Gervais' new sit-com Extras, which will be about the world of bit-part actors (or, rather, Gervais being glib). Sam said that it was all a new concept for him, because he didn't even know what an extra was. What? Huh? How? Who on earth does he think all those people swanning around in the background during filming are? Does he not see them? Does he think they're painted in afterwards (I am demonstrating my lack of knowledge about CGI here, methinks)? How can you be an actor and not know what an extra is? Anyway, he'll find out soon enough, given that his cameo role will amount to a bit of extra work. Ooh, the irony of it all. Mind how you go, too, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Ben Stiller, you might not like it when Ricky starts gurning behind you. But, my, how everyone will laugh. Hang on, I appear to be attempting to start a backlash here when it's not yet fashionable. Back pedal, back pedal....he's a genius.
