Called in at the Real Ale & Cider Festival. Blimey, some of that stuff is strong; a mere sniff of the air when you walk in and the rooms at Hull City Hall start to revolve. Avoided the 8% Liquid Lobotomy this year - last year's experience and subsequent at-desk slumber proved that this is one beer that definitely lives up to its name. Sadly I couldn't stay for the entire afternoon but I did sample the delights of Clark's Golden Hornet, Castle Rock Elsie Mo and Harviestoun Schiehallion. Noticed that very few women attend this event and those that do tend to be in charge of the packing up, which they have lovingly wrapped in cling film which they remove while hubby/partner/male chauvinist is at the bar ordering his half of Old Leg Over and a Valhalla White Wife for the lady.
