There we go - first draft of the Rank play complete. Arts Council England will be pleased that I didn't just take their money and run. The usual post-typing The End feelings. No real sense of elation (a terrible anti-climax in fact) as the mountain of redrafting ahead already ambles into view. Still, a rather crucial moment in the development of a script, eh, that first draft? Plenty of times I didn't think I'd ever get anywhere close to finishing the thing. Also, writing a piece based on real life events can be a real chore at times, as facts keep crying out to be checked. Yet it must all be cast aside for a few days now as there is some other business afoot...
