I'm into wide open spaces...

This is my view, yesterday lunch. At least when the opera gets too much, I can sit in a big wide open space just up the road - Millennium Square, Leeds. Harry Gratian was on the big screen, whittering on about the history of Leeds and, given what was on the Hull screen the other day, I guess there's some big "you've never had it so good" propaganda at work right across the country. 20 minutes in to Harry's very exciting film and I got a call from a lifeboat coxswain. As much as I've been putting it off, I guess the ride of a lifetime on a Severn Class lifeboat can't be avoided forever, can it?

I can understand why you've been putting it off, because even though you know they're all wonderful people you know they're going to make it like the worst fairground ride you've ever been on, and you're going to chuck like you've never chucked before. However, it will add something to the play ( I'm thinking publicity posters here, you stood on the prow a la leo caprio)but more importantly, think of the tales you can tell the nipper.

You hit the nail on the head perfectly, Bazza. I'm feeling rather ill just thinking about it!

As for you, anonymous - there was an old documentary about the revamp of Hull's Ferensway, a rather kitsch piece of work that reminded us that we've been right where we are now before.
