After the flood, there's the flood guide...

As I mentioned, I was in Morpeth last week, leaving just before the floods struck the place. Today, I wrote a Flood Guide for the people of Northumberland (a sort of 'souvenir' publication with hints and tips on what to do next time the River Wansbeck breaks its banks). I find myself penning the most peculiar things to earn a crust and fend off the bailiffs. Essentially, 20 pages can be boiled down to "Run! Head to the hills! And take your pets, children and insurance documents with you!"

In light of recent theatrical scribblings and some other stuff that's jostling to be written, I took it upon myself to phone theatre director today to arrange a meeting. I have scrawled some extensive notes for discussion but no doubt we will end up merely eating a messy sandwich in a public place and talking about rugby. Today I also had some correspondence with a radio producer and things is certainly looking positive there - but it seems such a long-winded process that my next blog post on that subject will probably be in the afterlife.

I would guess that writing 'Flood Guides' could become quite a lucrative niche market given their recent regularity. You could become the doyen of 'flood guide' writers.

Quite possibly. And, of course, when you've written one you've pretty much written them all! I suggested today that this publication needs to be laminated if it's going to be effective.
