Have a great night tonight, everyone. Take it steady, too. I'd like you to come out of the other side intact. And I'm already in fear of all the Facebook status updates that will read something along the lines of: "Eurgh. What did I do last night?"
No reviews from me. You all know what went down in 2008. I've not seen enough, read enough, listened to enough, watched enough or done enough to really have my finger on the pulse of zero8; a year which, for us, predominantly revolved around Finn. Yes, Finn, who is a bigger, funnier and somewhat more mobile piece of wonderment than he was 12 months ago.
On A Shout? But a distant memory now. Have all kinds of scripts shooting off in different directions. Some of which I'm getting paid for. Some of which will not be performed until 2010. Short films might be where it's at in 2009. We'll have to see.
Last December, I spoke of the collapse of consumerism. Seriously. So I have a good track record of profundity around this time of year. Listen up then, people. We're going to hell in a handcart unless we change our ways. This world of ours is full of selfish c**ts. In 2009, I aim not be be a member of that club. And I don't want you to be one of them either. Imagine a 2009 brimming with nice people, people that care about others, who'd hand over their last few pence to help out a fellow planet-dweller, who won't sneer when they hear about someone's inability to pay their mortgage, who won't hold those facing insurmountable debt responsible for anything and everything, who'll understand, maybe, that those that claim state benefits are not scroungers but people who've landed on an essential safety net, a 2009 full of people that don't judge, are open-minded, all-embracing and would offer a helping hand to anyone in need.
I often feel that it's worth remembering, as we head into a night of Jools Holland-induced nausea, the words of Baz Luhrman circa Sunscreen:
and of course...
All the best. x
